mssgs introduces credits: an in-app currency that can be given away, and a Premium account paid for with it

mssgs has added credits, a one-off currency that pays for a Premium account, a bot account or a gift to another member. The company states that credits and Premium fund the application in place of advertising and tracking. Twenty-two achievement badges arrived alongside it.

eu-alt has listed mssgs as a Dutch, EU-hosted alternative to Slack and Discord for communities and teams, across its team communication, community chat and instant messaging categories.

mssgs introduces parental controls that exclude message content by design

mssgs has released a Parent Center. Parents can see who their child communicates with, how long they are connected and how far their location sharing reaches, but never the contents of a message. The child requests the link, and it shares nothing until a parent accepts.

mssgs rebuilds voice chat and places the call on top of the game

mssgs has rebuilt voice chat on the desktop. A configurable overlay shows the call, and optionally the conversation, over a running game, while voice adds push to talk, visible noise suppression, per-device audio control and a connection quality reading.

mssgs adds watch parties and clips that export for TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube

mssgs has added watch parties, where a channel watches a video together and every participant can play, pause and scrub by default. The last minutes can be saved as a clip, edited, and exported for TikTok, Snapchat or YouTube.

mssgs adds a search that keeps the conversation around the result

mssgs has rebuilt search on the desktop. A result carries the conversation around it inside the search itself. Results are grouped per channel across a whole community, and can be filtered by author and by date.

mssgs gives content moderation to the communities themselves

mssgs has released a Reported Content queue in which community moderators review reports from their own members, with review deadlines and a visible vote. Reported content is preserved as it appeared, so deleting it does not end the review.

mssgs 2.1 for iOS adds nine games playable directly in a conversation, an Apple Watch app for reading and replying, CarPlay support with Siri, a redesigned iPad layout and a light appearance.

mssgs opens its chat to AI assistants through a local MCP server

mssgs has added a local Model Context Protocol server to its desktop application, allowing AI assistants to read and act in a member’s conversations. The server runs on the member’s own computer, can access only the channels they expose, and enables each capability separately.
