Group Chats, Communities & Private Groups
Three ways to share with more than one person, and which one fits your group.
mssgs has three kinds of groups. They look different because they are for different things.
Communities
A space with channels, roles and invites. Good for a friend group that talks every day, a club, a team or a school class. Free accounts can own two and join ten.
Private groups
A private story or a photostrip for a set of people you pick. Photos, not conversation.
Group DMs
Group conversations you are invited to appear in your chat list next to your other chats.
Sending to several chats
A photo from the Post button can go to several chats, channels and groups at once.
Which one should I use?
- You want to talk with a group, with room for different topics: create a community. A small one with a single channel works fine.
- You want to share photos with a few people without a chat around it: make a private group.
- You want to show one thing to several friends: post it with the Post button and pick them all.
