Sustainability
mssgs does not run its own data centre. What follows is where mssgs runs, what our hosting provider publishes about that site, and what we do not claim.
Where mssgs runs
mssgs runs entirely on infrastructure hosted with BIT in Ede, the Netherlands.
What BIT publishes about its data centres
The statements below are BIT's own, published on bit.nl and linked at the bottom of this page. We report them as our supplier's position, we do not certify them ourselves.
Green power
BIT states that its data centres run entirely on green power generated from 100 percent Dutch wind and solar energy, producing zero CO2 emissions.
Equipment
BIT states that power consumption is taken into account whenever new equipment is acquired.
Cooling
Cooling uses outside air, with closed cold aisle containment to manage chilled air efficiently.
Residual heat
Residual heat is reused rather than discarded: waste heat from BIT-2A heats the adjacent BIT-MeetMe conference centre, and waste heat from BIT-2B and BIT-2C will be used to heat homes in Ede, in partnership with Warmtebedrijf Ede, from the end of 2026.
Our own footprint
Because mssgs is a small, bootstrapped product from a small team, we do not operate our own data centre and our environmental footprint is essentially the footprint of the infrastructure we rent.
That is also why this page carries no CO2 figure for mssgs itself. We rent capacity rather than run our own site, so any number we published here would be an estimate rather than something we measured, and an estimate is not something we want to be held to.
Sources
Every claim on this page about the data centre can be checked at the source:
