Child Safety Standards

These standards apply to mssgs, operated by Deverence Group B.V. mssgs has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We prohibit this conduct and take action on content, accounts and communities that enable it.

1. Our Standards

For these standards, a child is anyone under 18. CSAE includes sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, online or offline, and any content or conduct that facilitates it.

mssgs does not allow:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): creating, uploading, storing, requesting, linking to, selling, sharing or otherwise distributing real or synthetic material that sexually exploits a child.
  • Grooming and sexual solicitation: building trust with a child for sexual purposes, requesting sexual content or contact, arranging an exploitative meeting, or moving a child to another service to evade safeguards.
  • Sextortion: threatening, coercing or blackmailing a child for sexual images, money, contact or any other benefit.
  • Sexualization of children: sexual comments, fantasies, role-play, depictions or other content that sexualizes a child, including content presented as humour.
  • Child trafficking or exploitation: recruiting, advertising, facilitating or benefiting from the sexual exploitation or trafficking of a child.
  • Enabling abuse: instructions, coded offers, links, communities or other attempts to normalize, conceal or facilitate CSAE.

These rules apply to messages, comments, profiles, communities, media, links, usernames and every other part of mssgs. Attempts and threats are covered even when no illegal material is attached.

2. How to Report a Concern

Use the in-app Report action on a message, comment or account and choose Child sexual abuse or exploitation. A report sends the relevant information for review. Blocking is a separate action that immediately limits contact; blocking alone does not submit a report.

If the in-app report cannot be used, contact support@mss.gs and include the account name, community, message or profile link, date and time, and any other identifiers that help us locate the concern.

Do not download, copy, forward or attach suspected CSAM to an email. Report the account, message or link instead. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement first.

3. How mssgs Responds

Child-safety reports are reviewed and handled separately from ordinary community disagreements. Our response process is to:

  1. Triage and assess: identify the reported content and accounts, evaluate immediate risk and prevent unnecessary exposure to the material.
  2. Contain and enforce: restrict access to or remove violating content and, where appropriate, suspend or remove accounts and communities involved in CSAE.
  3. Preserve securely: retain only the records needed for safety, investigation or legal duties, protect them from unnecessary access, and do not redistribute illegal material.
  4. Report and cooperate: report confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant regional authority as required by applicable law, and respond to valid requests from law enforcement.
  5. Prevent recurrence: review connected accounts, communities and links where appropriate and apply further safeguards or enforcement.

mssgs may act independently of a community's moderators when child safety is at risk. We may also preserve or disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect a child.

4. Safety and Family Protections

  • Reporting and blocking remain available regardless of age or family-link status.
  • Age and platform signals can be used to apply age-appropriate protections without publishing a child's date of birth.
  • Parent Center can link a child and parent or guardian and show limited safety and activity information. It does not give parents access to message content.
  • Accounts with incomplete age or family information can receive more protective defaults until the required family connection is completed.

Parental tools complement, but never replace, mssgs' responsibility to review child-safety reports and act on CSAE.
