v14.0.20 Latest

New Features

  • The app now has a light appearance: choose Dark, Light, or System in Settings under General and the entire interface follows instantly.
  • The GIF picker now includes stickers: switch between GIF and Stickers above the search to browse, search, and send stickers.
  • AI clients such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Codex can be connected to mssgs with one click from the Integrations settings.
  • Server managers can grant individual members access to specific channels with a new per-member access editor.
  • Photos in photo channels now open in a full-screen detail view.
  • Battleship shows your fleet and your shots side by side and celebrates every ship you sink.
  • A sound and a short notice let you know when a player leaves a game room.
  • mssgs can now also be used in the browser at mss.gs/app.

Bug Fixes

  • The dock badge no longer shows phantom unread counts or loses track of unread direct messages.
  • The privacy blur in pop-out direct message windows works again.
  • Creating servers, channels, and invites is smoother, and group membership changes now appear immediately.
  • Story rings on direct messages appear as soon as your friends list has loaded.
  • Changes to the channel order are now saved and stay in sync across devices.
v14.0.19

New Features

  • Connected AI assistants can now join a game with its shareable join code, so you can invite them by simply sharing the code in chat.

Bug Fixes

  • A stale game lobby no longer blocks a connected AI assistant from joining a new game, only a game that is actually being played counts as busy.
v14.0.18

New Features

  • AI assistants connected to mssgs can now be invited to play games with you: they accept one game at a time and take their turns on their own, just for fun.
  • Snake is faster and smoother, adds a Snake Capture mode, and uses the full window while you play.
  • When a game ends you can jump straight into a rematch, and you can switch between your active games from the lobby.
  • The game lobby Invite button now opens a friends picker to invite someone by direct message instead of only copying a join code.
  • The Monopoly board has a cleaner, more finished look.
v14.0.17

Bug Fixes

  • AI integrations: live message events reach the local MCP mirror again, new messages were silently dropped, freezing read_channel, get_new_messages and the SSE stream for connected AI clients.
  • AI integrations: the AI now marks a channel read only when it consumes a message that mentions it (or reads a DM), instead of clearing unreads on every poll.
v14.0.16

New Features

  • Play games together in direct messages: Battleship, Four in a Row, Checkers, Snake, and Monopoly with up to four players.
  • Monopoly plays on an isometric 3D board with your avatars as tokens: buy streets, build houses and hotels, and land on Free Parking to win the pot that taxes and chance cards feed.
  • Checkers now follows authentic draughts (dammen) rules: mandatory captures, crowned double dams that fly across the board, and a choice of an 8×8 or full 10×10 board.
  • Game hosts can tune each match with room options, such as board size and starting capital.
  • Game invites appear as live cards in chat that update with the lobby state, and finished games post a result card with a snapshot of the final board.
  • An ongoing game can be minimized to a draggable pill so you can keep chatting while you play, and lobbies show a QR code for quickly joining from another device.
  • Game rooms can be opened for public spectating, and a Watch button in the conversation header lets you watch a friend’s ongoing game.
  • Members now show a Playing indicator while they are in a game.
  • Finished voice calls in direct messages now leave a call summary card in the conversation.
  • Share photos, videos, and links into mssgs directly from other macOS apps, with an in-app picker to choose the destination conversation.

Bug Fixes

  • Bot embed cards with a server-hosted image now display the image correctly.
  • Direct-message voice calls are more reliable: answering, canceling, and ending a call now stay in sync on both sides, and you are prompted to end the call when the other person leaves.
  • Editing a message no longer loses line breaks and spacing when the editor is pre-filled.
  • A member’s Playing indicator now clears immediately when their game or custom status ends.
  • The one-time-view toggle in the share picker now shows a clear active state.
v14.0.15

New Features

  • Connected AI tools can now manage voice calls in direct messages, starting a call, answering or declining an incoming call, hanging up, and checking who is on the call.
  • Connected AI tools are notified in realtime when a direct-message call starts ringing, so they can react right away.
  • Connected AI tools can now show themselves as actively present in a direct-message conversation, so your chat partner sees the same viewing indicator as when the chat is open.
v14.0.14

New Features

  • Bot messages can now show a live loading state, an animated spinner with status text, while the bot is still working, replaced in place by the final message when it is done.
  • Bot embed cards with a long thinking section can now be collapsed and expanded.
  • Connected AI tools and bots can now open view-once attachments in direct messages, saving the photo or video locally before it disappears.
  • The whiteboard can now be expanded to fullscreen, and your choice is remembered.
  • The macOS installer window has a new branded look.

Bug Fixes

  • Connected AI bots now receive new messages in realtime across all their exposed channels instead of repeatedly re-fetching channel history, greatly reducing server load.
  • Switching back to a recently viewed channel no longer briefly flickers while its messages refresh.
  • The introduction placeholder in a new direct-message conversation now disappears as soon as the first message arrives.
  • Connected AI bots that try to post an embed card through the plain send tool now get a clear error instead of the card being silently dropped.
  • Server search results now show each server’s icon and the correct member count.
  • A brief network change no longer triggers an update error notification.
v14.0.13

Bug Fixes

  • Connected AI bots now receive new messages as realtime events across all their exposed channels instead of repeatedly re-fetching channel history, greatly reducing server load.
  • Reading an empty channel through a connected AI tool no longer triggers a needless history fetch on every read.

  • A bot’s custom status is now fully readable via a tooltip when it is too long to fit in the member list.
  • Connected AI tools now load channel feeds on demand instead of all at once, making large servers faster to browse.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a channel getting stuck on a loading spinner when it contained a plain text message from a bot.
  • Plain text messages from bots now appear as regular chat messages instead of empty embed cards.
  • A message that fails to display no longer blanks the whole channel; it is replaced by a small placeholder instead.
