Start Mau in your browser
mssgs runs right in your browser, nothing to install. With a free account you start games from your chats and play them with your friends there.
-
Create your free account
Open mssgs in your browser and sign up with a username and your email address.
-
Click the game controller
It sits in the strip on the far left and says Play a game when you point at it. On a phone it shows on the home screen; from inside a chat, swipe in from the left edge.
-
Choose Mau
Your room opens straight away, with a 6-character room code. In the room, the host can switch on stacking before you start.
-
Bring in a friend
Press Guest link in the room and send the link: your friend plays straight in their browser, no account needed, and the link works once. Friends already on mssgs can join with the room code under Join with a code, or you press Invite.
-
Start playing
Once at least two players are in, the host presses Start game. Up to four can play.
Opens in a new tab, so these steps stay right here.

How it works
Colour or number
Everyone starts with seven cards. Play one that matches the top card by colour or by value: blue on blue, a 7 on a 7, a Skip on a Skip. Nothing fits? Draw a card, and if that one fits you can play it right away.
Skip, Reverse and +2
Skip: the next player sits a turn out. Reverse: play turns the other way (with two of you it works like a Skip). +2: the next player draws two cards and loses their turn.
Wild cards
A Wild goes on anything, and you pick the colour that has to follow. A Wild +4 does the same, then the next player draws four and misses their turn.
Say Mau!
Playing down to your last card? Say Mau! as it lands. Forget, and anyone can catch you until the next card is played or drawn: you draw two. Say it late but before anyone catches you, and you get away with it.
Stack it, if you dare
The host can switch on stacking: answer a +2 with a +2, or either one with a Wild +4, and the whole pile moves on to the next player. Whoever can't answer draws the lot.
Empty hand wins
The first to play their last card wins and scores what the others still hold: number cards their value, Skip, Reverse and +2 are worth 20 each, Wild cards 50. Let the clock run out three turns in a row and you're out.
