How a match is won

Five petals, one Heartbloom

Every base grows around a Heartbloom on its centre pad, with five petals standing thirty metres out. While any one of them stands, the Heartbloom takes no damage.

  1. 1

    Guard your petals

Lines of light run from each standing petal to your bloom. While one stands, nothing can touch it.

  2. 2

    Break theirs

A broken petal drops a shard: carry it home to regrow one of your own in twenty seconds, or feed it to a full bloom for 250 matter.

  3. 3

    Bring their bloom down

The match ends when a Heartbloom falls, and the fog lifts so you can see what won it.

Play it your way

Alone, or with up to seven friends

  • Skirmish

An AI that plays by your rules: raider, turtle, boomer or balanced, and it waits for your first order.

  • Play Together

Online or on your local network, up to eight commanders on Petal Crown. Host a match, share the code, and the AI can take any open seat.

  • Six maps

Hearthland Basin and Amber Hollow for two, Fourfold Ford and Lilymere for four, Willow Divide for six and Petal Crown for eight.

  • Controls you know

Attack-move on Q, Shift-queued orders, control groups on Ctrl+1 to 9 and a strategic zoom, every key rebindable. A short voiced tutorial on your first start.

Petalwar in mssgs

Your friends see you playing, and join in one press

Petalwar talks to the mssgs desktop app on your computer, through its Game SDK. Connect it once and it does three things:

  • Playing Petalwar

Under your name in mssgs, with the map, the match and your faction.

  • Join now

When you host, your friends get Join now: one press and they are in your lobby, on your Wi-Fi or across the internet.

  • OPEN MSSGS in the lobby

Copies the match invitation and brings mssgs to the front, ready to paste into a chat.

In Petalwar, open Options → MSSGS, press CONNECT and allow it in mssgs.

Petalwar asks for one permission: to set your status. It reads nothing and cannot post as you, and DISCONNECT in the game or Remove under Settings → Game Activity in mssgs takes it back. How it works: the Game SDK.

What your friends see when they open your status in mssgs.
