Community Moderators
Reports are decided by the community, not by a company behind closed doors.
Why community moderation?
On most platforms, a company decides what you can and can't say. We believe the community itself knows best what's acceptable.
Reported content goes to volunteer Community Moderators: members of mssgs, real users like you, who vote on whether it breaks the rules. Action is taken once enough independent votes agree. mssgs staff only decide on a report themselves when it is urgent or the law requires it.
This creates a fair, transparent system where the power lies with the users. Automated checks can flag content for review, but a flag is never a decision: people decide.
Note: Community moderation only applies to communities. Work accounts manage their own moderation. Read more about communities on the creators page.
How it works
From submission to decision, by the community
Click "Approve" 3 times to see what happens. In the app, several independent moderators vote on every map filter.
Why this works
A fairer system for everyone
Democratic
Decisions come from several independent votes, not from one person behind a desk.
Transparent
You can see why content was removed and how many moderators voted. No hidden decisions.
Fair
Moderators come from the community itself. They understand the context and culture better than any company ever could.
Fast
Volunteers review reports as they come in, and mssgs staff step in when one waits too long. No waiting for a support ticket.
