Quick Start Guide
From fresh install to your first message, first friend and first game - in five minutes.
Five minutes from now you will be chatting - and probably playing. Here is the fastest route.
1. Add your first friend
Friends find you by username. Share yours, or add someone directly:
- Search their username in the app and send a DM request. They accept it before you can chat - that keeps spam out.
- Or scan their personal mssgs QR code with your camera to add them instantly.
2. Send your first message
Open the conversation and type away. Long-press (or right-click) any message for the good stuff: reply, react with an emoji, set a reminder, or pin it.
3. Play your first game

In any conversation, tap the game controller button in the chat header.

Pick a game - Battleship is a classic first choice.

Your friend gets a game invite card right in the chat. They tap Join and the lobby opens.

Ready up - and play. A floating bar keeps your active games one tap away.
4. Join or create a community
Communities (servers) are group spaces with their own channels. Browse public communities, open an invite link from a friend, or create your own - it takes under a minute and you can invite people straight away.
Next level: on the desktop app, open Settings → Integrations and connect your favorite AI assistant over the mssgs MCP. It can answer messages, summarize channels and even play games with you.
